Don Warrington, who plays Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, was born in Trinidad in 1951 but travelled to England with his mother and was raised in Newcastle Upon Tyne. He studied acting and has appeared in theatre and television. In the 2008 Birthday Honours he was awarded MBE.
